Make Booking Easy with These Online Services

Sometimes booking the next appointment can be a real hassle.

Finding mutual availability, entering the appointment in your calendar, and what about reminders?

Fortunately, online booking services have come a long way. Once you set up your account, you enter your available days and hours, connect the service with your Google calendar or iCal, and your client just has to go to your booking page to make an appointment.

Some services will even send your client a text reminder before their appointment so that they don’t forget!

Since MyCoachPortal allows you to link to any online booking platform, we thought we’d share some of our favorites with you.


Bookafy is a robust appointment app that has loads of features and a free option.

You can create appointment types (consultation call, coaching call, etc) sync with iCal, Outlook, or Google Calendar, and even take payments via your Stripe account. It also allows you to add extra team members if your practice has multiple coaches.

The Bookafy booking page may look a little clunky, but of all of the services listed in this article, Bookafy has the most features on their free plan, and their paid plans are the most reasonable ($7 a month for their Pro plan and $11 a month for Enterprise). It’s a great value and does tons!


Calendly has been around longer than the other services here and has the polish to show for it. It’s interface is smooth and its booking page is professional looking. It’s definitely one you’ll be proud to send your clients to.

It has a pretty limited free plan that offers no customization so, if you want to re-word that confirmation email, you won’t be able to.

The good news is that it syncs with the same calendars that Bookafy does, so that won’t be a problem. It also integrates with Zoom if you’re booking Zoom meetings.

The Calendly Premium plan is $8 a month and the Pro plan is $12. The Pro plan is the only one that allows you to take payments, so you’ll pay a bit more if that’s important to you.

Book Like a Boss

Book Like a Boss is a powerful newcomer to online appointments. The booking page you create with Book Like a Boss is customizable and (should I say it?) fun.

It has many of the same features as the other two applications with a couple extras. It has an internal messaging system for communication between you and your clients, and it integrates with Square Pay, a favorite payment processor among small businesses.

The downside is that Book Like a Boss is the most expensive offering in the bunch. Their plans are $9, $12, $19, and $29 a month, and there’s no free option. There is a 14 day free trial though, if you want to try before you buy.

There’s no doubt that online booking is here to stay, and getting better all the time. Try one (or more) out for yourself and see what works best for you and your clients.

When I was taking my coaching classes at PCCI, the questions that seemed to pop up most, about the nuts and bolts of a coaching practice, were in regards to the client onboarding process. This important step toward serving a new client seemed burdensome, not only for the coach but for the client as well.

Sending a multi-page form(s) by email so that the coachee has to print it out, write legibly, scan all the forms back in, and email them back meant that many of my clients either didn’t do it, only completed it partially, or sent me something that I struggled to read because it was filled out so hastily.

Not only was all of that terribly inconvenient but I felt like I wasn’t getting to know my client very well before we had our first session. That’s why I put together My Coach Portal, and why each new portal site comes with a welcome packet baked in (Phase 1). My clients can now use their phones to submit their information and I don’t have to try and interpret their handwriting.

The same goes for their prep forms!
